Martina McBride is a country music singer. She experienced country music through her father's band the Schifters. The band would practice every week at her family's house. When she was seven she joined the group. By the time she was a teenager she was playing keyboards and singing for the Schifters at weddings, dances and American Legion posts. Her mother was in charge of the soundboard, her father was a singer and played the guitar, she sang and played keyboards, and her brother played the guitar and steel. Martina played with the band every weekend until she graduated from high school. After she graduated she traveled around with various bands. She married John McBride in 1988 and they moved to Nashville in 1990 where they both took jobs touring with Garth Brooks. She eventually got a contract with RCA Records. She also toured with Tim McGraw and was a back-up singer for him.

In 1992, Martina McBride's, debut album, "The Time Has Come" was released. McBride's first big hit was "My Baby Loves Me" from her second album, "The Way That I Am" which was released in 1993. In 1995, she released "Wild Angels; Safe in the Arms of Love". In 1997, she released "Evolution" and in 1999 she released "Emotion".

Martina McBride is one of the most recognized top female singers in pop music-she has been labeled the "Celine Dion" of country music. Her voice has also been compared to Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

McBride is a four-time Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year winner, three-time Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year winner and a Grammy Award winner.
